Arrogant Bastard Ale

Arrogant Bastard Ale

Stone Brewing Co.

With a name like Arrogant Bastard Ale you have to give this a try, I will admit that this is not my first taste of this ale or will it be my last. A friend of mine always gives me some of this for my birthday. Not sure if there is a hint there.

Anyway let’s get on to the beer!

Pour

Arrogant Bastard Ale pours a rich copper/orange to an amber color leaving an off white head with a height of ¾ of an inch. The head hangs around for bit of time as the color settles down into the glass into a beautiful golden amber and copper mix.

Smell

Arrogant Bastard Ale has a complex smell at first you get a blast of malty along with the little citrus of the hops and then going in a second time I get a total different smell. On the next smell this time it is of a sweeter caramel like to a vanilla.

The aroma seems to change as it sees fit and that is not a bad thing at all.

Taste

The moment I have been waiting for finally getting to taste Arrogant Bastard Ale. On first drink you get the hops coming in strong with some bitterness in the end. After a few drinks you get more of the citrus flavors going in stronger and stronger, but you still have the subtle sweetness that make it a very complex and great flavor that is balanced very well.

Verdict

Arrogant Bastard Ale is a great beverage that I enjoyed without any complaints from me. Wait did I say without complaints, the only complaint I have to have more of this in the fridge at all times.

This is a great overall beer that is a great beer with a little bite to knock the winter chill off.

Verdict 5 of 6

Arrogant Bastard is really good you can’t go wrong with it. I also really like Stone’s Cali-Belique it goes great with spicy food like Thai or hot wings.
Have you tried anything from Iron Fist Brewing Co.or Lost Abbey They are in Vista not far from Stone and (I think anyway) produce more complex tasting beers. great write up as always.
