Brown Shugga'

Lagunitas Brewing Company

I Saw Brown Shugga’ in the store and said I feel like having a little Brown Shugga’. I figured this would be a perfect match to the BBQ is was having with some friends. Pulled pork sandwiches and some Brown Shugga’ to wash it all down.

Pour

Brown Shugga’ pours an orange to amber color similar to an IPA. The pour finish with an off white almost brown one finger tall head. The head hangs around for a longer time than expected and partially turns into spotty lacing in some areas around the edges.

This is one great looking beer!

Smell

Brown Shugga’ is a name appropriate, the first thing that hits you is the sweetness of this beer. The second smell brings more of a caramel/spice, and then you get hit with the malty, citrus and piney blast.

Taste

Brown Shugga’ at first taste is malty more malty than I expected, but in a good way. What hits to is the great malty and then you get the bitterness of the citrus hops and some lingering of fruit with spices with a very mild carbonation feel.

Verdict

Brown Shugga’ is an overall great beer, that I’m so happy I took a chance on. To this is like a play on an IPA that has been designed with a lot of creativity. If you a lover of IPA’s and such this is a great beer to give a try, believe you will not be disappointed.

Verdict 5 of 6
