Deep South Pale Ale

By Lazy Magnolia Brewing Company

This is a good everyday beer. This beer pairs well with just about any food as it is very light in flavor. I would have to say it will work well with a BBQ, fish dishes, and even a hockey game or two.

Pour

This beer pours golden to amber in color with a lite fluffy white head. There is a little cloudiness in the pour but clears as the head slowly disappears in to body of the beer.

Smell

The smell is very faint hoppy to piney with more of a wheaty or malty smell coming thru. Sometimes a touch of spices comes through with wheaty smell.

The smells are intriguing can’t wait to taste this!

Taste

Taste is different than what I thought I would get out of it. I expected a stronger taste of citrus and pine but only got a faint taste at best. The beer comes across as a diet or lower calorie beer, with complete lack of flavor for the most part.

I would have to say it is more of a watered down taste.

Verdict

This has a really unique beer, but to me the beer smells better than it tastes.  I hope it because this beer is made in lower batches and got a bad batch, if not this beer is not ready for prime time.

This is a perfect beer for people that don’t like a strong tasting beer.

Verdict 3 of 6

I’ve tried some others from Lazy Magnolia, including the Southern Pecan. which I like, but not this one. Being in Louisiana, these guys are in my back yard so I’ll have to try.

And thanks for visiting my corner of cyberspace. Glad you liked it!

Very cool site. I love that there is someone out there tasting beers and writing about it in an intelligent fashion. Great descriptions in your writing. I’ll have to look for more of your pale ale posts.
