Favorite lines from games.

I was thinking about all the game I played over the years and there has been some great one liners in those games of the years. So I started thinking about the ones that really stood out above the rest. Here just a short list of my favorite lines from games.

Duke Nukem

Way back when I was taking some my early baby steps in PC gaming, there was one game that stood out for me and would be Duke Nukem. As far as First Person Shooters go this was the first one that actually felt as if you were in a fully created 3d world.

Duke would let everyone know who the boss was by saying “Hail to the king, baby.”

Dagger fall was probably one of the most ambitious game ever made for its time. The world of Daggerfall was massive and the was so much to do in game that a lot of the time you forgot what you were actually doing or supposed to be doing.

This would get you in a trouble a lot and when you did you would here the town’s guards yelling “Halt, Halt!” If you never herd that you didn’t really play the game.

Street Fighter

Yeah I went through the phase where all I wanted to play were fighting games. I would mash buttons all day long back then. My favorite button masher was Street Fighter. If you played Street Fighter you knew that you just hated Guile. He would taunt you right before beating you down by say “Are you man enough to fight me?”

Knights of the Old Republic

One of my all-time favorite games was the KOTOR (Knights of the Old Republic) series and with that came some great lines. Depending on who your companion was in game you experiences could vary, but the best line in game for me was from Canderous Ordo who belted out this great line “Lady, you couldn’t even find your own ass, even with your friends’ help!” That was an instant classic.

Well I rambled on enough here. These are the ones that stood out for me that I will always remember. Now there is so do is ask what you favorite line from a game is.

So today I ask you, what is your favorite line from a game?

It has to be Deckard Cain`s “Hello, my friend. Stay awhile and listen…”. 🙂 Good times, good times!

Since being on Skyrim – there are many classics but the inevitable “I used to be an adventurer like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee”

I would say mine would have to be…pretty much everything the final boss of Persona 3 says. You’ve got to have guts to give a lecture on Jungian philosophy while getting the snot beaten out of you by a bunch of high school students (plus an elementary schooler, a robot, and a dog).

“The moment man devoured the fruit of knowledge, he sealed his fate…
Entrusting his future to the cards, man clings to a dim hope.
Yet, the Arcana is the means by which all is revealed.
Beyond the beaten path lies the absolute end.
It matters not who you are…Death awaits you.”

For me it’s always the banter in games that get’s me.

Elika: Why are you doing this? Why are you helping me? You’re not doing it for me, are you? I’ve seen how you look at me… I’ve seen that look before…
Prince: Now look, you’re cute, but not ‘stay to fight a dark god’ cute.
Elika: Would you have helped… if my father had asked you?
Prince: He’s not that cute either.

Zevran Arainai: Might I offer you a bit of advice, my good friend Alistair?
Alistair: I like my hair the way it is, thank you.
Zevran Arainai: Truly? As you wish, though my advice is regarding something else completely. It has to do with your recent… exertions with your fellow Grey Warden that I overheard.
    Alistair: My… oh.
Zevran Arainai: It did seem as if you just got going when all grew quiet. You are feeling alright, yes? Perhaps you are tired.
Alistair: We aren’t talking about this, are we? Did I hit my head?
Zevran Arainai: I have some roots from home that you may chew if you need energy. As for volume, perhaps you ought to try arching your…
    Alistair: Whoa, whoa! Awkward!
Zevran Arainai: You Fereldens are so finicky! How will you ever learn to pleasure each other unless you talk about it?
Alistair: Not listening! La la-la la la!
