Grasshopper beer is a beer brewed out in Alberta, Canada by Big Rock brewery. Growing up in Alberta I never really thought much of it, because it just seemed like another regular beer. But with a recent trip to The Beer Store, I realized they sold it in Ontario as well and figured it was worth a shot.
Grasshopper to start is a wheat ale. So it does not have a lot of smell to it, it really just smells like any other light wheat ale.
It pours pretty good as well, there is a bit of head to it, but it is not overly foamy which makes for a nice balance of beer and head.I was impressed by how it poured, because sometimes wheat ales come out a bit disappointing looking. That definitely was not the case with Grasshopper!
It has the nice light taste you would expect out of any wheat ale, without any of the uninvited bitter after taste that you might expect. It goes down really smooth, so when you are drinking it you do not always notice. That is good or bad, really depending on how you look at it.
The other added bonus is that Grasshopper is not an expensive beer. It is priced in with the rest of the regular domestic beers, making it relatively inexpensive. It is a premium level beer at a domestic price, extra man points awarded to the brewery for that.
I would give this beer a five out of six verdict.
