India Pale Ale (Fuggles) by Shipyard Brewing

shipyardIPAPours slight orange murky to transparent with lots of carbonation bubbles running to the top. A thin bubbly head forms with good retention. After a few minutes thin lacing forms at sides of glass.

The smell is not much to talk about. A faint smell of grainy malt and pale malts and maybe a touch of a citrus is all that could be found here.

The taste is rather weak also. It isn’t bad, but it’s not all that an IPA should be. The grainy hops hit first followed by a touch of citrus and then the closing with a light bitterness from the hops. It’s not hoppy enough for a good IPA. This beer feels lightly carbonated with a slight creamy texture in the mouth.

With this IPA Shipyard has put together another medium bodied beer with an alcohol content of 5.5+.  They have created a beer easy to drink, but without a lot of the hoppy taste. This beer goes down easy, almost too easy.  Someday I hop Shipyard will redo this beer and do it right with the right amount of hops.

Verdict 3 of 6 3pack
