Survival Games

Since this is the latest craze I figured I would chime in on what survival game I’m playing and why they are still installed on my computer. I’ll tell the truth here I love survival games!

I have tried just about every survival game out there and these are the best from what I found, but we all have different opinions.

MineCraftMineCraft2

Minecraft

I really shouldn’t have to explain too much about Minecraft, but here goes. I always play Minecraft in survival mode, just so I have to deal with the nasty’s that come out as night falls in the land of Minecraft.

Minecraft is a relative bug free game that has so many mods that I could never list them all or would ever wish to do.  One of Minecraft’s greatest features is the great harvesting and crafting system.

Don’t Starve

Don’t Starve is becoming one of my favorite games, as I originally was told about the game through a hint on the website. Since then I have played this game countless hours and have missed many appointment thanks to this masterpiece.

The development team is continually updating so I have no worries about support here with this game. As like Minecraft, Don’t Starve has a great crafting and harvesting system.

dayzdayz1

Day Z

Day Z was one of the first game that got the whole zombie survival games started. This game isn’t perfect being built of the ARMA 2 framework, until the standalone copy makes its appearance (no date for release yet). So in order to play you need to have ARMA2 and then install the mod.

The game does have its bugs and you will get ganked by other players without any help, but in the end the game is a lot of fun.

PZPZ2

Project Zomboid

Project Zomboid is still early in development but it available for purchase and download in its alpha state. This game is played at a 3rd person orthographic view. This game pits you as a lone survivor against the zombie hoards.

This game has a relatively large world that as you scavenge for food and supplies you must be very quiet or you stir up the zombies in the surrounding areas and they will come to investigate. As you progress you can take scavenged components to make better items for your survival.

TerrariaTerraria2

Terraria

Terraria is a little of a lot of games all rolled into one game. There elements of 2d side-scroller, sci-fi, survival, RPG, PVP, multiplayer, action and adventure. Terraria has a very complete crafting system which make for some interesting crafting. Terraria feature multiplayer and PVP can be enabled, that’s all up to the player.

As with most of these game once you build a shelter you can explore your heart’s content. Terraria is a ton a fun and another great game to support.

Well that is my list of my favorite survival games, if you have any suggestions I welcome them.

What’s your favorite survival game?

Minecraft hands down is my favorite, because not only am I trying to survive, I’m also trying to build.
DayZ is fun until I get shot by a camping sniper, but than that’s part of the game. Hacker right now is the main issue.

Both games are extremely fun playing with friends.

It hard for me not to love Minecraft, because I love building stuff and when I bored with that I can go hunting.

I used to host a lan server and play with my flatmates and friends. We would start of together, and build a central base. We than split up and build our own thing and than link them together with underground railtrack or roads.

They are both great indie games that really need our support.

    Thanks for commenting.
