Put your big boy pants on its time for some PvP!

PVP

I have a few friends that play MMORPG’s that never go in to the PVP zones or join the ongoing PVP battles in-game.

OK so I understand that some people don’t like the action or the pace of PVPing, but you should at least give it a try sometime, these guys don’t want anything to do with it at all. For me I get all amped up during PVP it’s so much more of a challenge to battle with other players.

I mean you have to admit that in some games the NPC monsters and characters don’t always have the best AI, when it comes to figuring out how to attack or counter attack. I can guarantee that most of the people in PVP don’t have that problem.

Starting out in PVP

Best advice get ready to lose and lose a lot!  Once you figure out your best skills and figure out what can be used to counter attack you will begin to win more. This will be a work in progress and it doesn’t come easy.

When you get good at PVP be prepared to hear a lot of banter from the opposing team because they think you might be cheating. Just tell them to learn how to play better. You will get this a lot because some people think there untouchable but in reality they are not.

Learning your limits.

As you play more you will be able to exploit your opponent weaknesses and really do damage to their team. This takes a lot of time and learning these abilities.

Don’t be afraid to try new things, messing around has made me quite a few breakthroughs in PVP.

A lot of games are adding PVP games that add a little more than just going after other players. For example SWTOR added a game Huttball that is a cross between football and rugby with weapons. So you don’t have to go into these matches in a hack and slash mode.

Try changing weapons, changing skill buffs, or whatever else you have to work with in game. Once you figure out what you can and can’t do, you will know your limits in PVP.

PVP conclusions

For you people that haven’t tried PVP you don’t really know what you’re missing! PVP to me has all the excitement in game that is needed, if you just want a good story you can always just do missions and quests, but that is nowhere as fun as the thrill of heading into battle with other players except maybe raiding.

So I ask your today, do you PVP in-game?

I am not much of a PVP player, but the times that I’ve played it, I can attest to the fact that opponents would banter you in as cheating.

I admit, I am more of a Runescape player than a WoW player. The PvP that I refer to in my point above is the Fist of Guthix. I am still a bit of a chicken in terms of PvPing in the Wilderness though! In terms of PvPing, I see that there is really not a lot of variety in terms of how you equip your character though depending on your, er… “warrior class” to put it simply.

I agree with you Vincent I wish some classes had more variations to let you play more the way you want than what they they designed.

    Thanks for the comment.

Among MMO I’ve played, the 2 most fun PvP are WoW and GW2.

For WoW, BG are very fun at low level, my favorite still being Arathi Basin. Big enough to have options, small enough to be aware of everything.

GW2 WvW is noob-friendly if you learn beforehand what the numbers you see mean, the map, and objectives. Enter at level 10+ is recommended once you have some items.
