Smashed Pumpkin (Pugsley’s Signature Series)
Shipyard Brewing Co
Well Halloween is that much closer so I’m still on this pumpkin beer kick, so last time I pretty much gave Shipyard hell over their Pumpkinhead. So I decided that I would give them a second chance by trying Smashed Pumpkin out.
Smashed Pumpkin pour a beautiful amber to golden orange copper color. The liquid is quite hazy with a bone white head that hangs around for a long time, leaving some thin lacing with each movement of the glass.
Very interesting pour, you can tell this beer has some character.
Smashed Pumpkin is an interesting smell full of maltyness and pumpkin pie spices to end the smell. On second smell the beer is more of a caramel and spice with a lot of malty scents coming in strong in the end. It is almost like the smell of a baked pie crust.
There is a faint smell of ginger in the mixture is really intriguing smell along with the spices and the sweetness this could be a winner.
Wow, this is a full 180 from the PumkinHead that I tried out last week, can’t wait to taste this on.
Smashed Pumpkin comes in strong with its sweetness in the beginning along with the strong maltyness in the end. You get a lot of the pie crust taste with the sweetness of molasses and honey. As you drink more and more Smashed Pumpkin you get a buildup of the pumpkin pie spices and flavors coming in stronger.
Overall this is one great tasting pumpkin beer.
Smashed Pumpkin is a fine addition to the seasonal pumpkin beers that are out there. I guess the best way for me to say that this is good is by say would I buy this again and the answer would be undoubtedly yes.
Overall this beer is full of great flavors and the beer has great color to match. This is defiantly a treat and not a trick!
