Guild Leader

Running the guild through the holiday season.

I got asked a question the other day, do you ever get a holiday slow down because people are away and what should the guild do during slow times.

I know what you mean there and sometimes maybe some of them don’t come back that’s a bigger problem, but let’s stick to the original question.

Cleaning up the guild.

Running a guild during the holidays can be tough, because a lot of time there just isn’t enough people on to do your normal routine. For myself that normally isn’t a problem, as a guild leader I would say this is a good time to get organized and clean up things that you have been putting off.

There might be a lot materials that have been collecting dust, might be a good time to sell that stuff to give the guild some extra cash to work with. This is also a good time to work on the guild site and work on writing up any new rules or regulations that need to completed.

List your goals for the next year of game play and post them on the guild site.

Running with a skeleton crew.

This is also a good time to get to know your members that are still around. Maybe you don’t get to play with these players on a regular basis, so do that now. You might be surprised that some of these people could be your future officers if you give them a chance.

This is also a good time to start putting together starter kits for each class for your new member or alternate characters. This can be a huge time saver for people that are new to game, this small gesture can keep people in guild and to lend a hand to new members once they are higher up in-game.

Come up with special holiday hours for guild play when the most people will be online, yes it can be tough to schedule stuff during this time, but make an effort and stick to it.

The Holiday Blues!

Remember that some of these people might be playing this game because they are lonely during the holidays, so make an effort to make these slow times as fun if possible.

The holiday season is a great time of year to spend time with your family and friends, but it is also a great time do some housekeeping and to play with members you don’t normally play with.

As the guild leader you are glue that holds everything together so make sure you help with your members that are still around the guild house during the holidays.
