World of Warplanes first impressions.
A few weeks ago I took the plunge into World of Warplanes, since being released finally from the beat tag. So I decided before I get the review done I would give some of my first impression of what I see in game so far.
I am an avid flight sim player, but that is the nature of the beast when you went to school for aviation related engineering. I currently frequent the game WarThunder which is World of Warplanes closest competition right now.
I’m trying hard not to compare WarThunder to World of Warplanes, it is very hard since they are so similar. The fanboys will be taking shots at me, Oh well.
World of Warplanes has come a long way!
The graphics look much crisper than what I remembered from beta, they have defiantly been polishing up and optimizing the engine. The ground terrains look amazing might be the best any flight sim.
I think they have done a lot of work on the aircraft too, they have a shine to them. Not the new aircraft shine more of a shine through the oils and grime of air warfare. Whatever it is they did that very well.
The aircraft and there trees look like they might have revamped also from what I remembered. This I guess will constantly be under the microscope as a way to balance gameplay.
World of Warplanes lacks something!
There are some things that I would like to see improved in World of Warplanes. First and foremost is the aircraft controls. I agree they are improved, much better than before in beta, but they could still use some tweaking.
I would like to see World of Warplanes take a cue from WarThunder and open up the battles to other aircraft from your hanger. That does make the battle last a little longer but, it allows you to get some pay back on the enemies.
World of Warplanes has posted a flurry of updates adding new content and airplanes, so the future looks bright for this online combat flight sim.
If you like air combat this is a great game so far, as I have only scratched the surface of it, but is well worth the download and a lot of fun.
